Story of the day: Following Through
Do you follow through with what you say? Are the words that come out of your mouth just words that vanish into air once they leave your mouth? How many of you have been in a situation where you have heard, “I will call you later, maybe we can hang out, or we should get together and work on this project, but nothing ever comes of it?” I don’t know how many times when I was younger, that I would say these things or hear these things, knowing that I would want to do them, but never followed through with what I had said. It wasn’t that I was purposely trying not to do those things that I had mentioned to people, but that I always over committed myself and found myself in situations where I would forget.
As I have gotten older and have realized the importance of keeping my word with whatever it may be, actually following through with whatever it is that I said I am going to do, I realized how important it is to follow through. I became a witness to those that I would hurt and it took God showing me these things in order to change. The last thing I ever wanted to do is hurt someone, so I prayed to God to teach me how to follow through. Don’t get me wrong, I know things come up and sometimes we mean well when we say things, but just call the person and be truthful about the situation and don’t leave them hanging, or better yet, don’t say things until you are certain that you can follow through. People are more likely to be understanding if you are just honest with them.
As I got to thinking about following through and the importance of it, I got to thinking about Jesus and how He endured the Cross. What if He at the last minute decided not to die for us? What then? But, He did what He said He was going to do and followed through with it, because of His Love for us. We should all live by His example of following through. Everyday we should pick up the cross that our Savior died on and walk in His likeness in all things. Don’t let your words just be words, follow through.
Quote of the day: Carole Mayhall
“The how of being people worth listening to is by letting our lives be filled with God himself. The why of being people worth listening to is because we are His, and He wants us to radiate Him.”
Bible verse of the day: Isaiah 38:15
What shall I say? He has both spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I shall walk carefully all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I know that I have flaws and that I will mess up. I pray that You continue to teach me and show me the areas of my life that need improving. I ask that although I will never be perfect that with Your help and guidance I may continue to follow through with my words and actions.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
Story of the day: My Life Song Life is amazing to me. I love to just watch people and wonder about their life stories. I love to observe their facial expressions and take in a part of their soul when they speak. Everyone is unique and have different memories that make them who they are. I love to listen to other people’s stories and watch as they bring to life their ”lifesong”. We have all had situations where we’ve loved, cried, laughed, got mad, been hurt, whatever the situation, we’ve lived. This is all part of life. These emotions and situations in our lives have allowed for growth in each and everyone of us.
This past weekend as we took a trip to Missouri to see Jeff’s family, we had an opportunity to minister and be ministered to. It was an opportunity to look deep into each soul and pull out some amazing stories. We had an opportunity to look at Jeff’s grandmother’s birth certificate that was written in Italian and dated back to the early 1900’s. It was signed by her mother who was born in the late 1800’s. To see a part of history that we hadn’t seen before and to listen to some of the amazing stories was truly awesome. I could imagine if Jeff’s grandmother were still alive, how she would sound and would react to things just by the stories that his dad and uncle were saying about this woman.
It got me to thinking about each and everyone of us and how we each have some type of story to tell. It is our life story, or better yet as Casting Crowns puts it, our “lifesong”. Everyday, we add different things to our song, some things happy, sad, or bizarre, all which make up who we are. I became humbled by the fact that while Jesus was here on Earth He had His own Lifesong and to this day His Song is heard throughout the world. I want my ”Lifesong” to echo my Saviors. I want it to be heard throughout the world and for it to minister to many. I don’t want what I am doing here to be in vain, but instead to spread joy and love while sharing God’s Holy Truth. I want God to look into my soul and hear these words **”May the words I say, and the things I do, make my lifesong sing, bring a smile to You. Let my lifesong sing to You. I want to sign Your name to the end of this day. Knowing that my heart was true. Let my lifesong sing to You.”**
What is your “lifesong” and how will it sound? The lyrics of your “lifesong” can be changed, so with the time that you have, make it a sweet song to be sung to God.

Quote of the day: John Christian
“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.”
Bible verse of the day: James 4:14
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I don’t know how much time I have here in this world, but the time that I do have, may I make it a sweet “lifesong” for You to hear. I pray that the things that I do in this world are pleasing to You and that You can look deep into my soul and hear my song that wants to do nothing more than serve You. I thank You for other people who minister to me and for their “lifesong” that You have blessed them with. I continue to pray for souls to be saved and lives changed.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
Story of the day: Peace in the midst of Chaos
It all started last week with all three of my kids starting school at three different locations, just the dropping off and picking up seemed to be a lot. Then you add cleaning, cooking, garage sale, working at the kids school, kids spending the night, kids sickness, taking kids to dentist, husband at a retreat, going to bed at 1:00 A.M. every night to get ready for the next day, helping with church, getting the remainder of school supplies, going to the grocery store for the 3rd time, and so much more that it would take an entire e-mail to list. It’s a wonder how I was able to keep my peace in all of that. I realized that although I was very busy, I still managed to find time to Worship God. As I dropped off everyone of my kids while taking a tour of Dayton along the way, I would find myself needing those 20 minutes alone in the car to Worship God. I would turn my music up really loud and let the sweet words that God has blessed these individuals with and take it all in. My time alone with God, although short, was always very much needed.
Have you ever just had one of those weeks that seemed so chaotic that in the midst of that chaos, you wondered if you could still have peace? Man, last week was a testing week for me. I knew that because of some of the great things that were going to be happening at church and how excited I was about it. I was ready and prepared for every distraction that I knew Satan was going to send my way to get me to lose my peace. I remember the very last thing that I spoke outloud and that was, “I will not lose my peace”. Even down to the very last few minutes before finishing up with the remainder of church things, I had to pray to God to not let me lose my peace. You see, anytime that you get excited about doing things for the Kingdom of God, Satan doesn’t like it and will send every distraction your way or make things seem more difficult than usual.
If you find yourself in a day or week of Chaos, turn down the noise of the outside and turn up the sweet Words of God. Whether it be in silence, through song, prayer, or reading the Word, I encourage you to find that time with God and He will give you the much needed Peace even in the midst of chaos.
Quote of the day: Joe Namath
“By the time I’m climbing back up from going down, I’m already thinking about the next play.”
Bible verse of the day: 1 Corinthians 14:15
What should I do then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray with the mind also; I will sing praise with the spirit, but I will sing praise with the mind also.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to You right now very humbled by Your Sweet Spirit. Although I had a chaotic week last week, Lord, our communication was always open and I was able to keep my peace through everything that was sent my way. I pray for individuals that are going through chaotic times in their life, to remember that it shall pass and if we are constantly seeking You even when things aren’t running smoothly, then You will give us the much needed peace for our lives.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
