Funny Friday Quote: Let’s go!

     In Point Man, Steve Farrar tells this story:

     The photographer for a national magazine was assigned to shoot a great forest fire.  He was told that a small plane would be waiting to take him over the fire.

     He arrived at the airstrip just an hour before sundown.  Sure enough the Cessna was waiting.  He jumped in with his equipment and shouted, “Let’s go!”  The pilot swung the plane into the wind, and soon they were in the air. 

     “Fly over the north side of the fire,” said the photographer, “and make several low-level passes.”

     “Why?”  asked the nervous pilot.

     “Because I’m going to take pictures!”  reported the photographer.  “I’m a photographer, and photographers take pictures.”

     After a long pause, the pilot replied, “You mean, you’re not the instructor?”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I will praise You with my whole heart and praise Your name for Your loving kindness.  I thank You for Your precious thoughts that You bless me with daily as my heart and soul continues to grow in love for others.  I pray to build in me the desire of Your heart, that I might do Your Will and magnify Your name while I am here in this world.  I thank You for a blessed day!

Funny Friday Quote:  Daylight Savings Time

 “On Sunday, the first day of daylight saving time, a sleepy-eyed congregation watched the young pastor ascend the pulpit in Washington church.  Not looking to wide-awake himself, he began, “As you all know, we lost an hour last night because of daylight-savings time.  I don’t know which hour you lost, but I lost the hour in which I usually write my sermon.”

He returned to the pulpit and continued the service.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for a blessed day.  Thank You that You Will is done and not mine.  I will praise You with all of my heart.  Thank You for providing me with all that I have, loving me for who I am, and guiding me in my life.  I find hope in Your Word.  I thank You for my life, this day, and all that it holds!

     “The man told his doctor that he wasn’t able to do all the things around the house that he used to do.  When the examination was complete, he said, “Now Doc, I can take it.  Tell me in plain English what is wrong with me.”

     “Well, in plain English,” the doctor replied, “you’re just lazy.”

     “Okay,” said the man.  “Now give me the medical term so I can tell my wife.”

Funny Friday Quote:  A dollar a week

     “When I was a pastor of the Little Brown Chruch, I was greatly annoyed by Karl Neufeld, and elderly memeber, who fell asleep during my sermon every Sunday.  So, after service one day, I said to his grandson who always accompanied the senior citizen, “If you can keep the old man awake, I’ll pay you a dollar.”

     This worked for two weeks; the aged man was very alert and listened to the sermons attentively.  On the third Sunday, however, there he was, up to his old tricks, sound asleep in his pew.

     After the service I called the boy over and said, “I am disappointed in you.  Didn’t I promise you a dollar a week to keep your grandfather awake?”

     “Yes, replied the boy, “but Grandpa gives me five not to disturb him.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

The weeks are flying by and I can’t believe that we only have 8 1/2 more months left here in Dallas.  Father, I pray for the time remaining that Jeff and I soak up all that You have to teach us, and equip us with all that we need to carry out Your mission.  I thank You for this beautiful day and I ask a special prayer for those that may be in the path of the hurricane.
