Story of the day:  Overdraft Protection

When I worked in a bank, I would always try to get the customer to set up their account with overdraft protection.  What this means is that the checking account is tied to another account, like a savings account, so that if the checking account ever went into the negative, the account could pull from the other account that had money without charging the customer all of the overdrawn fees or bounced check fees.  Yes, and although you are supposed to maintain a positive number in the account, there were times when customers would be upset because they had forgotten about an outstanding item and thought that they actually had extra money to spend, when in actuality, they didn’t.

As I thought about this scenario, I got to thinking about how many times have people gone up to others that don’t know Jesus as their personal Savior and have asked them to accept Jesus’ free gift of life, but how many times they passed on it.  A lot of the answers were similar, they said,  “no, not now, because I have to take care of this, or get this one thing right in my life before God will even look at me.”  Well my friends, there is never going to be a right time.  There is nothing that you can ever do. You will never be able to get it right. God knew this, and this is why He sent His Son.  The time is now.  So right now, if you haven’t already asked Jesus into your life, then don’t delay, do it now.   Come to Jesus in prayer and ask Him to be Lord over your life and accept His free gift of Overdraft Protection.  Let me tell you, the Bible is very clear when it says that the only way to have eternal life is through believing in Jesus, John 3:16.  It doesn’t say that we have to do this and that first, it’s a simple prayer of asking and believing that God sent His Son.  Ask and it will be given to you. Matthew 7:7

In Matthew 4:20, Jesus asked people to follow Him and they didn’t think about it, they “immediately left their nets and followed him.  You can even be living what you think is a pretty good life.  It doesn’t matter how good you are,  what things you do, or how many times you do things,  until you take that step of accepting Jesus in Your life, then you are missing some outstanding things and eventually you will be charged an enormous fee for not having the Overdraft Protection.

So I encourage you to make this day the day that you ask Jesus into your life if you already haven’t.  It’s free, and it won’t cost you a thing.  My friends, this is your life that God has given you, don’t wait until it’s too late.  Once you accept Jesus and follow Him, the Bible tells us in Matthew 19:29 that everyone who has left houses or brothers and sisters or father and mother or fields, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundred fold, and will inherit eternal life. What a great way to be tied to God, through Jesus, our own Overdraft Protection.

Quote of the day:  Thomas a Kemis

“If thou bear the cross cheerfully, it will bear thee.”

Bible verse of the day:  Matthew 4:19,20

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.”  Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I have done what You have asked and written this.  Lord, I don’t know where this e-mail will end up, but I know that there is a plan and a purpose for it.  I ask that You bless those that are seeking Your face and may this day be the day that they come to know You as Lord and Savior.  I pray that they not get any rest until they accept Your free gift of eternal life.  For those that already know You and have accepted Your free gift,  may we continue to truck forward for the Kingdom of God, picking up our crosses daily and teaching others about Your Son, Jesus.

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Story of the day:  Is Jesus Your Warranty?

Nothing could have prepared Christen (my daughter) and I for our Saturday Night.  We had just gotten home from Pet Smart, and the collars that we had bought the puppies were way too big, and so we had to head back to Pet Smart to exchange them for smaller ones.      Once we arrived at Pet Smart, things seemed to be going normally, it’s when we left to come home, that things started to not go as planned.  We opened the car door, both of us got in, and I preceded to put the key into the ignition and low and behold, the key would not turn in either direction.

While we were waiting for Jeff to arrive (our help), we thought that we would read the owners manual and see if there was something in there about why the key was not turning the car on and off.  We thought we had it figured out, but we didn’t.  We tried just about everything.  Christen and I even had time to come up with a song called the “POC Car”, just a little inside thing for me and my daughter.  I called my dad, Jeff, On Star, and I know for sure made a call out to God.

When Jeff arrived on scene, and as we were together trying to now figure it out, God whispered into my heart, remember when you flipping through the manual, there was a number to Chevy, why not call the 1-800 number. So, I called the Chevrolet number and they were able to help. (Thanks God!)   Because the car was still under warranty, we were able to get a tow truck to come and take care of the car.  Jeff and I were already planning to follow the tow truck back to the dealer to drop off the truck.  We knew since it was Saturday that the dealer’s service department was closed and that we would have to wait until Monday before we could get the car looked at. Two hours later, after seeing people come and go from Pet Smart, and actually watching them close the Pet Smart store, the tow truck finally arrived.    When the gentleman from the tow-truck company came over to the lifeless vehicle, he asked Jeff what was the problem and the gentleman said that he had seen our situation so many times before, that within a split second, it seemed like he had the car started so very quickly.  He took his little flashlight and tapped the key into the ignition while turning it to the start position.  Hey, I knew to do that (yeah right).  Because of that warranty that we had with the vehicle, the Chevrolet company was able to fix the problem without it being a cost to us.    The same is so very true with our life.  Jesus is our one and only Warranty.  He is the only One that can fix any problem and guess what it doesn’t cost us.  Now, if you don’t know if you have Jesus as your Warranty, then you need to flip through your life manual and see if there ever was a date that You asked Him to come into your life and save you from yourself.  Let me tell you, if You don’t get Jesus as your Warranty, then it is going to cost you, more than you will ever know.  So pick up your phone and call 1-777-GoBible and be sure to ask them for the Special that’s Free,

Bible verse of the day:  Romans 10:9

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, There are still so many souls that don’t know You as their Lord and Savior, their personal Warranty.  I ask right now, by faith, that this e-mail is used for Your Glory to win souls for the Kingdom.  Lord, if there are any that become saved this day, let them shout it out loud and make it known to others.  Lord, I pray for those that already know You to continue reading their Bibles, speaking to You for Wisdom, and Preaching Your Gospel to others so that they may come to know You as I do.  I thank You for my life, I thank You for saving me, and I thank You for Your Son, Jesus who paid the ultimate price and is the One and Only Warranty for my life.

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Story of the day:  People Pleaser

Do you have a weakness?  Since we are human, then we all do.  My weakness stems from wanting to be a people pleaser.  I never wanted to step on toes, always want to help out in anyway that I can, and never wanted to hurt anyone, mostly because I hate confrontation.  It wasn’t until November 2006 that God revealed to me, Christy, the only one that you should be ever be pleasing is, or worried about is Me.  You shouldn’t be concerned with the fact that people may or may not like you, but be more concerned with what Your Heavenly Father thinks of you and how much love that He has for you. You would have thought that the Earth had shaken that day, because that revelation to me, although so easy, was always difficult for me to remember.  Everytime a situation occurred, where I knew that I needed to speak what was right, always became a struggle for me, and I would wind up giving in to my “feelings” of not wanting to hurt the other person, or worse get hurt by the other person.  I would get up the nerve to say to the other person what was right, but my words would leave me, and I winded up agreeing to what everyone else was saying, in short, a people pleaser.  I would become shy about the situation, and anyone that knows me, knows that I am far from shy.      Now, if it doesn’t line up with Scripture, then no matter what I am feeling, then it probably isn’t of God, even if the feelings are so very innocent.  Remember that Satan knows everyone of our weaknesses, and if we allow the enemy to have one foot in the door with that weakness, then he will run with it.  So my prayer for you is that the next time you “feel” a certain way, truly pray about it, seek God’s Word about it, and then wait to act on it until God says.  Remember God’s timing is everything!  If you do things on your own time, it will never be right.  Give God all the glory when you overcome your weakness, whatever it may be.

Quote of the day: Steve Brown

“Contrary to popular opinion, sin is not what you want to do, but can’t; it is what you should not do because it will hurt you–and hurt you bad…God is not a policeman; he is a Father concerned about his children.  When a child picks up a snake and the father says, “Put that down right this minute!”  the child thinks he’s losing a toy.  The fact is, he is not losing a toy; he is losing a snake.”

Bible verse of the day:  Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,  Thank You for the wonderful insight of not being a people pleaser, but instead a God pleaser.  Lord, everyday of my life that You have granted me has contained many blessings.  Overcoming the weakness in my life has been a blessing.  I give You all the glory for that.  Lord, I know that I am not perfect by any means, but I do know that if I am not in my Word, praying, and constantly seeking Your Wisdom on situations, then I am opening the door for the enemy.  I pray to always remember the revelations that You bring to light in my life and live by the Wonderful Example Your Son, Jesus.

 In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen
