Story of the day: R U 4 Real? As I sit up at 2:49 A.M. I am awakened by thoughts that the Lord has placed into my heart. Do I stay in bed, or do I get up and be obedient to what He is saying to write. Is your character the same no matter where you are? Do you change according to who is in the room? Do you compromise yourself to make you look good? In other words R U 4 real? So the story takes me here. Our middle son is in summer school right now. There are four new teachers, one for each grade, 1-4th. I haven’t met any of these new teachers as of yet. Yesterday, another teacher that I do know from the school, that goes to our church, said she had to go up to the school for a meeting. She said that one of the new teachers had been talking in the meeting about this little boy that she had in her class. She mentioned that the boy was so very sweet and had written this story about his grandmother. The teacher went on to say that this young boy was writing about his vacation and how he would help his grandmother do the laundry. He said that he wanted to help his grandmother because he didn’t want her to have to do it alone. Then my friend from church mentioned the boys name that the other teachers had been talking about and it was my son. I was taken back, because here you have a child that is willing to speak truth and from the heart and God blessed the truth by bringing it to light. Our friend from church shared the news to my husband and I and the news revealed just how true our son’s character is. He is 4 real no matter where he goes. He is the same at church, at school, and at home. Kids always seem to have that honesty and that truthfulness that adults sometimes lack. So as adults, why do things change? Are you the same no matter where you go? Or do you compromise yourself for others? So many times as adults, I believe people compromise who they are for other people and this is wrong. Maybe you do it to make yourself look good. Maybe you do it because you don’t want to hurt the other person. Whatever the reason, we should never compromise who we are in God. You should never compromise the Truth. We should always be willing to call out things that are wrong and if we are the ones in the wrong, then we should be willing to listen to those that are calling us out of the wrong. We should always be willing to nip a lie in the bud, and most importantly, we should always live according to what the Holy Bible says and NEVER compromise that!! If you are not being real, people will know, because God will reveal it and it will show in your character. And those like my son, who don’t compromise who they are for anyone, are themselves, and are 4 real, God will also reveal their character and will let their light shine so others can see. I pray for my son as he continues to grow up that his character doesn’t change, like a fad, doing what everyone else is doing, but continues to stand out and live according to God’s standards. So now I ask you to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself this question, R U 4 real?
Quote of the day: Anonymous
“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out. But in darkness, beauty is seen only if there is light within.”
Bible verse of the day: Ephesians 5:8-11,13
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth, finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, As I take a look in the mirror, and ask myself the question, am I for real, I ask that You search my heart and bring to the light the areas in my life that I compromise and things that don’t line up with Your Word. I ask You to help me change these areas in my life so that I can stop compromising and live according to Your standards. I pray to not let other people be a factor in compromising the Truth and if I am compromising, that You reveal it to me right away. I pray to not live my life according to how I feel but to always seek wisdom from Your Word, in prayer and through the Holy Bible. In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
Story of the day: Looking for a breakthrough?
Jeff and I were listening to Dr. Tony Evans last night and he was preaching about a breakthrough. Are you looking for a breakthrough in your life and have been asking God for one. Anytime that you ask God for a breakthrough in your life, be prepared to be broken. Everybody that God blessed in the Bible, He broke first. So many times, we want the blessing, but don’t want to be broken. Dr. Tony Evans related this to a horse. The horse loves the food, water, and to roam where he wishes, all which are the blessing. The horse however doesn’t like it when the cowboy gets on his back to break him, mainly because it is uncomfortable, new, and probably scary. The same is true of us, we want God to bless us, but we don’t want God on our back to break us, because it is uncomfortable, and we are no longer in control. We get so comfortable doing things on our own, that we don’t want the change. Until you gives in to God and allow Him to break you, then you will continue on your own and never allow the breakthrough that you have been asking God for. I encourage you not to run from being broken. Let God break you and get your breakthrough (blessing). Christy
Quote of the day: Augustine
“God is more anxious to bestow his blessings on us than we are to receive them.”
Bible verse of the day: Deuteronomy 28:2
all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the Lord your God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for this day. Lord I pray that those that are seeking a breakthrough to understand that with that breakthrough they must first be broken. I pray that they have a heart that is willing to be changed and allow You to direct their paths. Lord, so many times, I don’t want to be uncomfortable, and it is in these times that I am no longer allowing You to use me for Your will. It just simply means that I am happy where I am and that I want to continue to do things on my own. Lord, I pray everyday that I don’t get this attitude. I pray that I am not comfortable with my daily walk. Lord, continue to break me so that I will get my breakthrough.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
Story of the day: Anchor
Good evening or morning to all of you. I apologize for not having a quote for today, but I was out at an amusement park all of the day Monday and then on a boat early and all day Tuesday. The lake had some very strong currents today. For the most part, the lake appeared to be gentle, but we would be reminded very quickly that we were truly never in control. Everytime that we threw the anchor overboard it was supposed to stop our boat from drifting. Unfortunately, our anchor and the line that it was connected to was not long enough to reach the bottom of the lake. In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of rain, which has caused flooding and the lake to rise. I am not even sure how deep the lake was out in the middle, but it had to be extremely deep. We had a lot of line for the anchor, it had to be at least 50+ feet worth of line and it still did not settle on the bottom, out in the middle of the lake. There were times when we would just drift, anchor and all. It wasn’t until we reached the shallow part of the lake, closer to shore, that our anchor would catch the bottom and the boat would stop. This scenerio reminded me of how our lives mirror the boat and how we need to let God be our Anchor. The only difference with God being the anchor as opposed to our 50+ feet of line and anchor, is that God has unlimited supplies of line to tie to, so that no matter where you are in the lake (your life) he will always keep you grounded and never let you drift away.
Quote of the day: Christy Povolish
“Don’t wait for your ship to drift away; let God be your anchor and secure you no matter how deep the water is.”
Bible Verse of the day: Hebrews 6:19
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for being an anchor in my life. Lord, I know there are times in my life that I try to be my own anchor and when that happens, I know that without you as my anchor that my life will continue to drift and never be grounded. I pray to teach me when to know those times, so that I quickly change it back to Your anchor. I thank You for today.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen
