Funny Friday Quote:

Funny Friday Quote:  Remember by Association (Author Unknown)

An elderly couple had been experiencing declining memories, so they decided to take a power memory class where one is taught to remember things by association.

A few days after the class, the old man was outside talking with his neighbor about how much the class helped him.

“What was the name of the Instructor?” asked the neighbor.

“Oh, ummmm, let’s see,” the old man pondered. “You know that flower, you know, the one that smells really nice but has those prickly thorns, what’s that flower’s name?”

“A rose?” asked the neighbor.

“Yes, that’s it,” replied the old man. He then turned toward his house and shouted, “Hey, Rose, what’s the name of the Instructor we took the memory class from?”

Bible verse of the day:  Psalm 108:1

“O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I will sing praises to You for Your mercy is great above the Heavens and Your Truth reaches to the clouds.  Just as You have created the Heavens and the Earth, You have created me, and I am so thankful for serving, loving, and praising You with all that I am.  Father, I pray for safe travels this next week as Jeff and I are off to New Mexico to find a place to live.  We are so excited to see what the next step is in our walk with You.  I love You and thank You for this beautiful day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

He Bears Your Burdens

Story and Quote of the day:  He Bears Your Burdens

In the Philippines the driver of a caribou wagon was on his way to market when he overtook an old man carrying a heavy load.  Taking compassion on him, the driver invited the old man to ride in the wagon.  Gratefully the old man accepted.

After a few minutes, the driver turned to see how the man was doing.  To his surprise, he found him still straining under the heavy weight, for he had not taken the burden off his shoulders.

Christ offers rest to all who will trust Him completely. [Craig Brian Larson]

Bible verse of the day:  Matthew 11:29

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

May I take Your Yoke upon me and find rest in You each and every day.  I thank You for Your Grace and Mercy that You give to me and for calming my soul whenever it is in distress.  My prayer is for those that are carrying so much burden, that they too can find rest in You.  I love You and thank You for this blessed day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Just Keep Swimming

Just Keep Swimming

Story of the day:  Just Keep Swimming

In the Movie, Finding Nemo, a little fish named Nemo gets caught by some divers and is taken to live in a dentist’s aquarium.  To Nemo, being stuck in the tank is pretty trivial compared to not ever seeing his father again.  Little does Nemo know that his father is going to all links to try and find his son so that he can bring him home again.  Through rough waters, sharks, jellyfish, and unknown territory, Nemo is finally reunited with his father, but it was because of consistant perseverance.

One line from the movie that is a great reminder of this type of perseverance is when Dory says to Marlin (the dad), “Do you know whatcha gotta do, when life gets you down?  Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.”  And even though these words come from a little fish, these words are a great reminder of what we should do once we are faced with similar situations, whether you find yourself in unknown territory, fighting against battles that seem unbearable, or when you feel as if you can’t overcome.  These words are words that symbolize what it means to truly persevere to the end.  So wherever your circumstance may find you, “just keep swimming, just keep swimming” and keep on swimming to the end.

Quote of the day: Dory from Nemo

“When life gets you down, you know whatcha got do? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming swimming.”

Bible verse of the day:  Romans 5:3-4

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Just like those little fish in that movie, my prayer is to persevere until the end.  Father, You have equipped me with all the tools that I will ever need.  I pray to choose wisely every day the path that You have set before me.  I ask for strength to get through obstacles that may come my way and that I, just like in Nemo, will “just keep swimming, just keep swimming,” to the very end.

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Transformers, more than meets the eye

Transformers

Story of the day:  Transformers, more than meets the eye

Transformers is coming out tomorrow and it got me to thinking about these robotics and how they transform from something unrecognizable into something recognizable.  These robots completely change from the inside out.  It’s a much deeper transformation than we could ever imagine.  The more and more I thought about this, the more and more I began to think about how we:

Constantly try to reform ourselves.  Stores are filled with self-help books claiming to hold the secret to personal reformation.  But such efforts are only temporary at best.  A deeper transformation is needed–a transformation of the heart.

And it is possible!  The Bible teaches that when we come to Christ, we are spiritually born again.  God’s Spirit comes to live within us and changes us.  Our motives change, our objectives change, our dispositions change, our eternal destiny changes.

No, it doesn’t happen all at once.  We will spend the rest of our lives learning what it means to follow Christ.  But it begins now, as we open our hearts to Him.  Is your life “being transformed…from glory to glory?”  [Billy Graham in Hope for Each Day]

Bible verse of the day:  2 Corinthians 3:18

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for transforming me from my old self into my new self.  Father, Your Love has transformed my life into something beautiful and I grow each and every day by the things that You show me.  I pray that I am not conformed to this world, but that that “I am transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I will be able to test and approve what God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will is.”  Hebrews 12:2

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Because He loves us!

Story and Quote of the day:  Because He loves us!

There was a boy who did not have much athletic ability.  Every time he and his friends would play some game he was always the last to be chosen.  One day two new fellows came to play with them and were allowed to be team captains because they were older.  The first team captain chose the boy who had always been chosen last before.  Why?  Because they were brothers, and he loved his brother.

So it is with God.  He chose us not because of our abilities, but because He loves us. [Michael P. Green]

Bible verse of the day:  John 15:16

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me so much that You chose me regardless of my abilities.  Each and every day, I grow into the person that You have created me to become and I am so grateful for that.  Father, as I raise the bar in my life, I pray for strength to endure, peace to calm, and love to share with those around me.  I love You and thank You for this blessed day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

By Faith

Story of the day:  By Faith

It’s not a coincidence that words are used more than one time in the Bible.  Are they placed there just because, or is there something more?  With me, I choose to  believe that there is so much more.

When God repeats things, we should take note, because the things He says are of great importance.  One phrase that is used many times in the Bible and can be found multiple times is in Hebrews 11:1-40.  When I read through these verses, I counted at least 28 times where the word faith was used.

Hebrews describes some of the most tried people, who by faith, set this word as their firm foundation under everything in their life.  They did this because they believed that their life was worth living.  The people that Hebrews speaks about had so much faith in something that couldn’t be seen and that set them apart from everyone else.  This same faith is ours today if we would just take hold of it and embrace it the way our ancestors did many years ago.  And yes, there will be times where your faith will be tested, but it is during these times that God will help you to overcome, protecting you from fire, swords, and any battles that you may encounter.  By faith, we can be made whole.

Quote of the day:  Nancy Guthrie

“Our faith keeps us from being swallowed in despair.”

Bible verse of the day:  Hebrews 11:3 (The Message Bible)

“By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s Word, what we see created by what we don’t see.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that my faith increases daily.  Father, through trials and tribulations, I know that I will be tested.  My prayer is that I don’t get caught up in the things that will drive me bananas, but that my faith, hope, and trust lies wholly in You.  Thank You for Your loving, guiding, and strengthening me through things that I can’t handle on my own.  I thank You for this blessed day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Cavern Full of Gems

Story of the day:  Cavern Full of Gems

Each human soul is like a cavern full of gems.  The casual observer glances into it through some cranny, and all looks dark and sullen and useless.  But let light enter into it and lo!  It will flash with crystals and amethysts and quiver under the touch of brightness.  If souls do not shine before you it is because you bring them no light to make them shine.  Throw away your miserable, smoldering, fuming torch of conceit and hatred, lift up to them the light of love, and lo!  They will arise and shine; yea, flame and burn with an undreamt of glory[Canon Farrar]

Quote of the day:  Helmut Thielicke

“The gospel must be preached afresh and in new ways to every generation, since every generation has its own unique questions.  The gospel must constantly be forwarded to a new address, because the recipient is repeatedly changing his place of residence.”

Bible verse of the day:  2 Corinthians 2:14

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I lift up my praise to You Father that it may be a sweet fragrance to You.  May all the things that I do this day bring honor and glory to Your Name.  When I come into a room full of friends or strangers, may my light shine so brightly that Your Name becomes famous.  I thank You for this blessed day, and I love You with all of my heart!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen
