Story of the day:  Light from the SON.

Just like many flowers and plants, people need the sun in order to survive.   Let me give you a little bit of background about the sun.  Wikipedia has many descriptions about what the sun is and what the sun can do.  Here are a few of them.  “Sunlight is the primary source of energy to Earth,  ultraviolet light from the sun has antiseptic properties and can be used to sanitize tools and water, The sun is a magnetically active star and has been intensively studied by scientists, while many questions about the sun still remain unanswered, humanity’s most fundamental understanding of the sun is as this luminous disk in the sky, whose presence above the horizon creates day and whose absence causes night.

Now, let’s look at another star called the SON.  The SON is the primary source for everyone. The light from the SON can radiate among many and can sanitize more than just tools and water.  The SON is always ACTIVE and has been studied by many, while many questions about the SON still remain unanswered. The SON created the day and night along with everything else (Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-2).  Without the one and only SON, we cannot survive.  So my friends and family, follow the SON all the days of your life and He will radiate through you and you will shine for others to see.

Quote of the day:  R.K. Cecil

“Each soul, just like each flower,

Will turn toward the One

Whose light will make it blossom

 as it follows the SON.”

Bible verse of the day:  Genesis 1:3-4

“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your SON.  As I seek Your presence daily, I pray that Your light shines so brightly through me.  May Your light be an example through my life.  Direct my paths and teach me how to shine like the SON.

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Story of the day:  Unconditional Love

One Sunday a little boy looked up at his dad and asked, “Daddy, how does God love us?”  His father answered, “Son, God loves us with an unconditional love.”

The lad thought for a moment and then asked, “Daddy, what kind of love is unconditional love?”  After a few minutes of silence his father answered, “Do you remember the two boys who used to live next door to us and the cute little puppy they got last Christmas?” “Yes.”  “Do you remember how they used to tease it, throw sticks and even rocks at it?”  “Yes.”  “Do you also remember how the puppy would always greet them with a wagging tail and would try to lick their faces?”  “Yes.”  “Well, that puppy had an unconditional love for those two boys.  they certainly didn’t deserve his love for them because they were mean to him.  But, he loved them anyway.”

The father then made his point:  “God’s love for us is also unconditional.  Men throw rocks at his Son, Jesus, and hit him with sticks.  They even killed him.  But, Jesus loved them anyway.”

Quote of the day:  Vonette Bright

“You can be sure you are abiding in Christ if you are able to have a Christlike love toward the people that irritate you the most.”

Bible verse of the day:  Romans 13:10

“Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I have been praying to open my heart to love others the way that You love me.  The love that You have shared with me to give to others is beyond what I could ever imagine.  Thank You for loving me this much.  The Love that You have is so great that even when one drop spills over from Heaven, it has saturated my life and touched me to my very core.  I can’t express how grateful I am to You for it.  I pray that the love that I have will spill over into compassion that I show towards others while doing Your Will.  Open the eyes of my heart, that I may see others the way that You do, and that is with eyes of Love.  I thank You for this day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

“Some years ago, on returning from a business trip, a man brought his wife some souvenirs.  Among them was a matchbox that would glow in the dark.  After giving it to her, he turned out the light, but the object was not visible.  “This must be a joke!” she said.  Disappointed, the husband commented, “I’ve been cheated!”  Then his wife noticed some French words on the box.  Taking it to a friend who knew the language, she was told that the directions read:  “If you want me to shine at night, keep me in the sunlight all day.”  So she put her gift in a south window.  That evening when she turned out the light, the matchbox had a brilliant glow.  The surprised husband asked, “What did you do?”  “Oh, I found the secret,” she said.  “Before it can shine in the dark, it must be exposed to the light.”

Just as the matchbox, having been exposed to the sun, took on the nature of the sun and began to shine, so Christians should constantly expose themselves to the Son, that they may take on his nature and shine as lights in a dark world.” Michael P. Greene

Quote of the day:  D. L. Moody

“Character is what you are in the dark.”

Bible verse of the day:  Luke 11:35-36

“Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.  If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As dark as it may be out there, You have made me a light that will shine brighter even in the darkest of times.  Father You have asked us to stand apart from the ways of this world, and to shine Your Son’s light so brightly, so that those around us won’t even know it’s dark out!  God, I pray that my light radiates through me and unto others and as It shines through me, I ask that You remove from my heart anything that may be hindering Your Light.  I thank You for this day!

In Jesus Name I pray,

Amen
