God’s words and time table, not mine

blue-hills.jpg                                                                                                                                                                                                Story of the day:  God’s words and time table, not mine

I usually get up every morning, do my quiet time with God, and then write for Quote of the day.  Lately, God has been showing me that it’s not always going to work like that.  I am a scheduled person and like to do things the same everyday.  God has now been telling me to wait on Him, which I usually try to do, but lately, I have been struggling because when I am ready to write, God has been telling me to wait.  So, I first want to apologize for not getting the quotes out as early as I had every morning, but at the same time, I don’t apologize for God telling me to wait, because through my waiting, God has shown me that His timing is perfect.

Not only is His timing perfect it is everything!  As I was reading in the book of Jeremiah last night, I began to notice just how important His timing truly is.  There are times that I think that Quote of the day is ready to go out for the day and God says, no wait.  And I ask God, are You sure?  Like He needs me to ask Him.  Again I always hear crickets and imagine Him standing over me, and looking at me like I look at my children when they’ve asked me a question like that.  And although the waiting has been uncomfortable and challenging to me, I see the importance of why He had me wait.

Have you ever wondered what you were going to say to someone about Christ and were afraid that you didn’t know exactly what to say and when to say it?  That has been my dilemma my whole life.  It’s not that I was afraid of telling people about God, it’s just I didn’t know where in the Bible to look.  Along with that were struggles with reading.  I have always had to read things a couple of times to make sure that I got it, so I thought, well if I am struggling with saying things and reading things, maybe I should write it down, but even that was so hard for me.  Give me a math problem, since I love math, and I could figure it out, but with writing, my thoughts would speed past me and my hand’s couldn’t write it down fast enough before they became just a memory.  And even though these things were always hard for me, God is amazing in that He took the things that I struggled with the most and turned them into a strength for His glory!

God began to show me in Jeremiah last night just how impecable His timing is.  It is so perfect that He knew that I would be writing this right now even before I was born.  Jeremiah 1:4-5,7b-9  says this:  “Then the Word of the Lord came to me, saying:  Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.  Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.  Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:  “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”

I stand amazed every single day that He puts into my mouth the words that He will have me write and does so in a way that ministers to me, the one that is doing the writing. It has come full circle to me understanding my purpose even during the times that I didn’t understand it.    And as long as I continue to do what He has asked of me and to remember that it’s all on God’s time table, and not mine, then no matter what time I get Quote of the day sent off during the day, I now know that it will be sent on His perfect time, whenever that may be.

Quote of the day:  Esther Fields

“Things don’t just happen to us who love God,

They’re planned by His own dear hand,
Then molded and shaped, and timed by His clock,
Things don’t just happen–they’re planned.

Bible verse of the day:  Jeremiah 1:9

“Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:  “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your timing is so perfect.  I am so grateful that You have been showing this to me in the last few weeks.  And although I may want things a certain way, I know that it’s not my way that counts, but Yours.  Let me be reminded daily that waiting on You is a gift that You have given to me. The gift has been teaching me patience, the value of Your time and not mine, and how to deal with struggles in my life.  Thank You that before I was born You already had Your words ready for me to use.  The words will be used to glorify Your name and to teach others about You.  God, I have looked at myself and have often asked why You have chosen someone that has had struggles with writing to do Your will, and with Your great response You said,  “Christy with your weakness, your struggle, I have turned it around, and made into a strength.  I want others to see that it’s okay to have weakness, because in my eyes, as I begin to change their weakness into a strength, they too will see the great things that I am doing in their life, and know that it is from Me.  They just have to want to love Me and allow Me to start a work in them, and from My work that I am doing, they will see how much I love them.” God, that touched my heart and continues to minister to me. I thank You for Who You are and for sharing this with me today.  Father, I love You so much.  When I wake up to when I go to sleep my thoughts are always on You and as You reach down from Heaven daily and “touch your hand to my mouth,” I know that I have been given exactly what You want me to say and it will be done on Your time table and not mine.  I thank You for this day!

In Jesus Name  I pray,

Amen

  1. Thank You for your ministry. You ministered to me personally today. I’m going to miss you and your family when you move. However, even knowing God brought you back to Ohio for so much more, it blesses me knowing our Heavenly Father allowed us to become friends during your time here. I’m excited to see and hear about all the wonderful things God does for you and your family. We will someday share what the Lord’s doing while we are sitting in “Christy’s Timeshare in Texas” eating wraps and dips. Love Ya girl, Carla

  2. Carla,

Know this, even though miles will be separating us, God will always bring us together. Supernova is going to bless many women, even those in Texas, and I can’t wait to see all that God has in store for this ministry!! You all are always welcome at our casa (house in spanish). Your friendship has also blessed me and I have become better by having known you. I still have those candlesticks and can’t wait to see what they look like in your house:) I love you too!!!

    Christy:)

  3. My sister, who wass amissionary for 23 years, always told me “God is never in a hurry but He is always on time.” I’m sure she wasn’t the first to say it but it is so true. Thank you for your post.

  4. God works in mysterious ways for the good of those who love him.
Thank you for this post especially your testimony that the Lord puts words in your mouth and at the same time ministers to you.

Many are the occasions that I give a testimony about the goodness of our Lord and by the time I am done, I actually find the message has strengthen me more and that is the moments I realize that the Lord was actually ministering through me.

It always good to be thankful, for the wonderful things that the Lord continues to do in our life on a daily basis.

  5. Thank you for that! Your words are full of wisdom. I would have to agree with what you said that when the messages have been written they have become dual purposed! Isn’t God amazing!! Have a blessed day!

    Christy:)

  6. I have been Praising God (Psalm 103, 145,etc) and Praying for Natalie (Psalm 140-in place of the word “me” I put the name Natalie) And JUST believe- God is in Control.
